Sussex Society October 2011 – Lewes Bonfire Celebrations
Oct 7th By Simon, filed under In The Press
Ok, so not strictly a direct mention to RootHost, but rather a mention of one of my clients sites, the Lewes Bonfire Celebrations.
I don’t normally read Sussex Society and, although I have seen it around before, never really bothered to pick up a copy. My partner had just nipped to the shop to buy some bargaining tools for our eldest daughter (sweets in other words!) and on her return handed me a copy of this freely distributed magazine. “Here you go, I saw this and thought it might be good for some market research”, she said, as she flicked the kettle on. I had been hard at work all morning so took this as the prime opportunity to take a well earned break and and flick through this magazine that had, somehow all this time, eluded my attention.
After skipping past the first three pages trying to sell me cars I can’t afford I landed on the ‘contents’ page and the image in the top right caught my attention straight away. It was a photo of a flaming poppy, promoting the upcoming annual November the 5th bonfire celebrations in Lewes.
Being a born and bred Lewisian I am somewhat familiar with the goings on surrounding this Lewes festival and, although never having been part of the fun, it does captivate my interest so I skipped to page 30 for a sneaky look!
For some reason, my attention was drawn to the ‘factfile’ box at the bottom of the article where, to my surprise, was a mention, and the web address of a recent clients site! Sussex Society quite proudly display the website as a source of fact and information for those interested in the Lewes bonfire celebrations.
Needless to say, the client was extremely pleased with this mention and after a quick Google Analytics check, it was clear the mention had worked wonders for the website traffic with an impressive 171.07% increase in the last 6 days!
Although I haven’t been able to gain permission to reprint the article (I’m trying!) there is a direct link to the online version of the October 2011 Sussex Society magazine and the article can be found on page 30.
Lest We Forget

Sorry for the noob question. Could you tell me what this site template is? I really love it. Or is it customized one, maybe? I believe it can be a decent option for PPC as well. I’d really appreciate it if you can tell me about this. Thanks.

Hi, this is a completely bespoke design and not a template. Has taken a while to get it right.
Pure CSS and HTML for the main site with WordPress plugged in for the blog part.

Hey, Needed to ask you some thing. Is this site a wordpress web page? I am thinking of moving my blog site from Blogger to wordpress, do you think this can be practical? In addition did you produce this particular theme by yourself some how? Many thanks for your help!

It is a standard html website apart from the blog section which has wordpress plugged in to it. Yes, this is a completely custom design and theme.

I am really loving the theme/design of your weblog. Do you ever run into any internet browser compatibility issues? A small number of my blog audience have complained about my website not operating correctly in Explorer but looks great in Chrome. Do you have any ideas to help fix this problem?
