Well, it’s almost that time of the year again folks! Like it or loathe it, bonfire night is almost upon us and, as usual for mid October, the streets of Lewes are awash with bonfire boyes and belles selling programmes, collecting donations and generally getting excited!

November the 5th sees the usually peaceful streets of East Sussex’s county town of Lewes ablaze with the thousands of flaming torches, burning tar barrels and firework-fuelled effigies from the Lewes and Sussex bonfire societies as they take over the town for the night!

Unlike your average, local bonfire celebration, Lewes bonfire night is the biggest attraction of the season and for many Lewisians, a way of life! Many of the societies members will have spent all year planning and making brightly coloured costumes for this annual event. continue reading

Ok, so not strictly a direct mention to RootHost, but rather a mention of one of my clients sites, the Lewes Bonfire Celebrations.

I don’t normally read Sussex Society and, although I have seen it around before, never really bothered to pick up a copy. My partner had just nipped to the shop to buy some bargaining tools for our eldest daughter (sweets in other words!) and on her return handed me a copy of this freely distributed magazine. “Here you go, I saw this and thought it might be good for some market research”, she said, as she flicked the kettle on. I had been hard at work all morning so took this as the prime opportunity to take a well earned break and and flick through this magazine that had, somehow all this time, eluded my attention. continue reading
